When it comes to commuter motorcycles, you need a bike that is built to last and is of good quality, especially if you depend on a bike everyday. The Bajaj CT 150X has been placed as a reliable and durable option and therefore a lot of talk has been generated around its long term performance and build quality. Various owners have had different experiences as to how well the bike holds up over time, with some owners saying it’s a tough bike that can last, and others saying that issues start to arise when you’ve had the bike for several years. This has resulted in comparisons to other bikes in the segment, arguments on the quality of components used as well as maintenance requirements. Topics of interest have included paint quality, rust susceptibility, plastic part durability, and electrical component reliability. In these discussions, affordability versus quality is often discussed, and whether the CT 150X represents good value for money in terms of long term ownership.

I’ve had my CT 150X for over a year now and I’m impressed at how well it’s holding up. Everything is still solid and no major issues. It was definitely better than my previous Discover.

It’s okay build quality, but not great. After just six months I’ve noticed some rust spots starting to appear. But the Hero Xtreme 160R seems to age better.

I think for the price, decent enough build quality. It’s not premium, and that’s fine, but it’s sturdy where it matters. After 20,000 km the engine and frame feel solid.

I’m not happy about the plastics they use. For some reason, they seem to fade and crack faster than they do on my friend's Honda. Mechanically, the bike is sound, but...

I’ve been surprised at how durable the CT 150X has been. It's a rough road, and it's taken the abuse well. So far no rattles or loose parts.

It's a mixed bag. The engine and chassis are solid core components, but the electricals have been problematic. In a year’s time, the headlight bulb burned out twice.

I think it does better than people think it does. It’s not flashy, but it’s built to last. As long as you stick to the maintenance schedule religiously, you will be fine.
