Is this a fancy WagonR or does the Kia Syros have what it takes to be a game changer for urban families?
The Kia Syros is boxy which has led to comparisons with the WagonR, but it also comes with a large number of features that seem aimed at urban families. It’s getting noticed for its sliding rear seats, ventilated seats, and spacious interior. But some people are wondering if it's in the right place in the market, and if it's worth the price that's been spoken about. Debate rages whether its looks are unconventional or whether the practicality and features make up for its unconventional looks. Some people have decided it's a great family car with nice features, while others can't stand the look of the car. All of which leads to the question of what urban families really want in a car, and whether the Syros does the trick.
This is definitely more than just a fancy WagonR. Sliding rear seats and ventilated seats are the game changers for families. Yes it is boxy, but this allows for more interior space. For a family car, I’d take practicality over looks any day.
Just a glorified WagonR with a Kia badge, come on. A few features don't justify a price hike. If I wanted a practical family car, I could have bought the Maruti Ertiga that is a proven product.
I dont think its fair to compare it with the WagonR. Clearly this is targeting a different segment. It's a compact package, but the features and the space it offers, it's more of bigger cars. For families needing space but living in tight city parking, it could be perfect.
Game-changer? Hardly. This is Kia attempting to start a new segment for the purpose of justifying higher prices. It's a mess of a design, and I don't think it'll age well. A proper compact SUV like Sonet or Venue would have families in a better state.
I actually like the design. It's different and it's noticeable. And the practicality factor is huge too. In this segment, sliding rear seats is a big deal. This could be a hit with young families who want something practical but don't want to look like they are driving their dad's car if the price is right.
