Is the Vantage a good grand tourer?

Of course, the new Aston Martin Vantage is clearly positioned as a sports car with supercar rivaling performance, but many buyers will also expect the car to excel as a grand tourer – a car capable of long distance travel in comfort and style. This has traditionally been a strength of Aston Martin vehicles. But some people have said that the latest Vantage is a bit firmer, more performance oriented, and could be less comfortable on long journeys. Ride quality, interior noise levels and practicality are factors here. The car can be quite loud on the highway and the ride harsh on poor surfaces, some reviewers have also noted. However, the powerful engine and enhanced handling could make it a great long distance companion. How does the Vantage balance the sometimes conflicting requirements of spirited driving and long journeys for those who are thinking of the car as a car for both?

The compromise is good. Not as comfortable as a Bentley, not as sharp as a GT3. It does both roles well enough to be a great only car though.

Long trips are more comfortable than in my old 911. The ride is well damped and firm and the engine is less stressed at highway speeds.

Great GT if you want performance. It’s not for those seeking ultimate comfort. It’s hard to beat for a balance of speed and livability, though.

Grand touring is an issue for the noise. Great if you want it, but you won’t be able to fully turn it down on the highway. Packing light is also a must.

Depends on your definition of GT. A DB11 is not as plush, but it is more engaging. It keeps me alert and entertained so I prefer it for long trips.

I have done several 500+ mile trips in mine. It’s not uncomfortable, but firm, sure. They are great seats for long drives.

It's gone more towards sports car than GT. Backroads are great, but it can be tiring on long stretches of highway. After a few hours the exhaust drone gets old.
