Is the upgrade from previous generations worth it in the KTM Duke 390 Gen 3?
Since its introduction, the KTM Duke 390 has undergone many changes. The Gen 3 model, launched in 2024, is the latest, and the changes are pretty big. The car has a new chassis, new styling, improved suspension with adjustable forks, and a more powerful engine. But that comes at a higher cost. The question is important for riders who already own a previous generation Duke 390 or are thinking about buying their first one: Is the Gen 3 worth the extra investment? One also needs to consider the ride quality, the performance improvements, the technology updates (if any), all of this, and the overall value for their money. Also, potential buyers take into account the reliability and problems of a new model year.
Absolutely! It's a huge improvement over the Gen 3. The adjustable forks are worth it for me alone. And the new TFT display is beautiful.
I would say it depends on what riding style you have. The older gen could still be perfectly fine if you’re mostly commuting. The Gen 3 is shinier for enthusiasts and weekend warriors.
Not worth it in my opinion. It is just too much for what you get. I would rather put that money into mods for an older model.
I can’t justify the upgrade cost as a Gen 2 owner, but I’m jealous of the Gen 3 improvements. Maybe when used prices drop a few years from now.
If you are buying new, the Gen 3 is definitely worth it. However, if you already have a Gen 2 in good shape, I'd hang on to it for now.
I rode both, and the Gen 3 is a completely different bike. The improvements to handling make the upgrade worthwhile.
It's a tough call. Objectively, Gen 3 is better, but Gen 2 is still a great bike. If you can afford it, go for the Gen 3. If you’re not, then you’re not missing out on too much.
