Is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor's fuel efficiency claims realistic in the real world?

The Urban Cruiser Taisor comes with impressive fuel efficiency figures according to Toyota, with the 1.2L petrol offering 21.71 kmpl and the 1.0L turbo petrol promising 22.8 kmpl. With rising fuel prices these numbers are quite attractive. But often we find a huge gap between the claimed fuel economy numbers and the actual fuel economy. Actual mileage is affected immensely by driving style, the types of traffic, and climate because of which a car consumes more fuel when it is driven on traffic jams, bumpy roads, or climbs uphills. Some owners report getting close to the claimed figures, and others report much lower efficiency. The discussion also includes fuel economy among the different engine options (1.2L NA, 1.0L Turbo, and CNG) in different driving conditions. The question here is how does the Taisor fare in real world fuel efficiency, do the claimed figures hold up in everyday driving or are they just overly optimistic marketing numbers?

Those numbers are not going to be happening in real world driving. On the 1.0L turbo, I am getting an average of 14-15 kmpl in mixed conditions.

If you drive sensibly the 1.2L engine is pretty efficient. I am getting around 18 19 kmpl which is not far of the claim.

City driving kills mileage. In heavy traffic, I’m barely touching 12 kmpl with the turbo engine.

The fuel sipper is the CNG variant. For my commute, I'm getting equivalent to about 24-25 kmpl, which is great.

You will get near the claimed figures on highway runs. I've seen 20+ kmpl even in long trips with the 1.0L turbo.

It's all about driving style. With a gentle throttle, I’ve been able to get pretty close to the claimed figures.

In stop and go traffic, the AMT version seems more efficient than the manual. Maybe that’s because it starts earlier.

Those are pure fantasy figures. With the 1.2L even with a light foot, I am getting about 15-16 kmpl overall.

But the turbo engine drinks fuel in the city and is efficient on the highway. For me it averages out to about 16-17 kmpl.
