Is the Toyota Fortuner really worth the bucks?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
For the last few years, Toyota Fortuner has been a popular SUV, and its price has gone up gradually to over 50 lakhs on-road for the top variants. This has started debate about its value proposition when contrasted with other feature rich new contenders. On one hand, some say you're getting what you pay for: Toyota's legendary reliability and off road capability, on the other, some feel that the car is overpriced for what it offers in terms of features and comfort. But there had been gripes as well was the lack of some modern amenities such as a 360-degree camera and the, for the price, relatively basic interior. Nevertheless, many of the high initial investment costs are attributed as factors such as its strong resale value and low maintenance costs. The fact that the Fortuner enjoys popularity among the influential and the road presence is also a factor that pushes the Fortuner to the premium pricing. As the SUV market rapidly grows, is the Fortuner still a wise buy or is it just riding on past glories?

For me, a lack of features for its price is a deal breaker. There is no 360 camera, basic infotainment — it feels as though you're paying for the name more than the product.

I’ve owned both a Fortuner and a luxury German SUV and I can say that the Fortuner is worth it if you’re going to do a lot of highway driving or off-roading. For city use, not so much.

I believe it is overpriced for what it has to offer in terms of features, but you are paying for the badge and reliability. In many parts of India, it’s not just a car; it’s a status symbol.

It is expensive, but think of the total cost of ownership. Their value holds very well and their maintenance costs are low. It’s costly in the beginning but economical in the long run.

That depends on what your priorities are. It's worth it if you want a tough, go anywhere SUV that will last forever. However, if you’re looking for luxury and tech, you should look elsewhere.

No way, it's way overpriced. With more comfort and features, you can get much better equipped luxury SUVs for 50 lakhs. At this point, Toyota's just milking its reputation.

Absolutely worth it! The Fortuner is the most reliable car. Mine's been 5 years and has had no issues. Can you get that peace of mind with other brands?
