Is the Tata Safari a worthy purchase at the hefty price tag?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views5 answers
At around 30-34 lakhs, the Tata Safari in its top end variants is a very expensive vehicle. That means it's going up against some heavy hitters in the SUV market. The Safari’s bag of tricks include the upright interior, luxury finishes and latest in tech though things like reliability and after sales service have come into question. Even brand new vehicles have been reported by some owners to be suffering from niggles right up to major breakdowns. However, the Safari has a good road presence and a nice ride. It asks, whether the Safari's pros outweigh its cons, at this price point; or do Tata's efforts in the high end space justify the cost.

It depends, I would say, on what you value. The Safari delivers if you want the latest tech and want a spacious interior. If long term reliability is your primary concern, though, you might want to look elsewhere.

I am honestly quite sure it is overpriced. If you want to spend that kind of money, you could get a much more reliable and proven SUV. On paper, the Safari might look good, but the real world experience seems to be hit or miss.

It's a tough call. The quality issues are a real concern, but the Safari looks great and has some cool features. If you're a die hard Tata fan and willing to put up with the headaches, I'd say it's only worth it.

If you are looking for a uniquely Indian SUV experience, I think it is worth it. There is character to the Safari that you just don’t get with other brands. On top of that, Tata have really upped their game in terms of features and design.

No way, man. You are asking for trouble spending 30+ lakhs on a Tata. At that price point, you’re better off going for a Toyota or even a base Fortuner. At least you know you're going to get reliability.
