Is the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 an upgrade worth the money from the Hunter 350?
The Guerrilla 450 has been positioned as a more powerful, more feature rich alternative to the popular Hunter 350. But with a huge price difference and a totally different engine platform, many riders are wondering if it’s worth making the move. On one side of the fence, some argue that the extra power and modern features justify the upgrade; on the other, some jumping over say the Hunter 350 already does enough for city riding and occasional highway jaunts. Factors such as maintenance costs, fuel efficiency and overall riding experience also form part of the debate. For those who already own a Hunter 350, the upgrade becomes even more complex as you’re familiar with the bike and the resale value of the bike is also a factor.
Absolutely! But the Guerrilla 450 is a huge step up in performance and features. That liquid cooled engine is a game changer and the power difference is night and day. Plus, you get better brakes, suspension and electronics. Going from a bicycle to a motorcycle is like that!
It's not something I would say is worth it for everyone. For a city bike and a bit of highway, the Hunter 350 is a great bike. For most riders, the Guerrilla 450 could be overkill at the price difference. The question you have to ask yourself is, do you really need that extra power and features?
I upgraded from a Hunter 350 to a Guerrilla 450, and I can say that it is most certainly worth it if you are an enthusiast rider. Twisty roads are much easier to hack on with the extra power and better handling. But those benefits may not be as apparent for pure city commuting.
It depends on your riding style and your needs, I think. If you are happy with the Hunter 350 and ride mostly in the city, stick with it. If you simply want to tour, the Guerrilla 450 is a good upgrade, but if you want to do more touring, or want a more engaging ride, then you want to go up market. Just expect to pay more in maintenance costs.
The Guerrilla 450 is more of a sidegrade compared to an upgrade, let’s be real. Yeah, it has more power, but some of that classic RE charm goes out the window. It’s more simple and has more character than the Guerrilla 450. Sometimes less is more.
