Is the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber a real bobber or just a cosmetic makeover?
The recently unveiled Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber is also dubbed the 'Goan 350'. It has some bobber style elements like a solo seat and white wall tires, but there’s some debate about whether it really gets the feel of a bobber motorcycle. Bobbers are traditionally stripped down bikes, with shortened rear fenders, minimalist designs and customised with modifications. It appears that the Classic 350 Bobber is retaining a lot of the standard Classic’s styling and components. This has spurred debate about what it is that RE has done to bring an authentic bobber experience, and whether it is really just a styling exercise to cash in on the bobber fashion. There are those who argue that factory built bobbers will never be able to truly appreciate the DIY spirit of the original custom bobbers, and others who appreciate RE’s efforts to give the bobber inspired option straight from the showroom.
It's certainly more cosmetic. All they did was slap on some white wall tires and say that was it. This is a real bobber, stripped way down.
Considering the regulations they have to work with, I think RE did a decent job. The vibe is bobber without being too extreme.
This is pretty weak sauce, as someone who's built actual bobbers. There is barely any difference between a Classic 350 and this.
It's not bad for a factory bike. This is a nice entry point for most people who aren’t going to build a bobber from scratch.
RE is trying to do something different and I appreciate that but they could’ve taken the design further and really hit that bobber vibe.
It’s a great place to begin customization. Get this then mod it further to make it more of an authentic bobber.
Let’s be real here, RE is trying to get in on the bobber trend without fully committing to the style.
