Is the Ritz a good first car to buy for new drivers in 2024?
The first point to consider when thinking about a first car for new drivers in 2024 is a used Maruti Ritz. Because of its compact size, good visibility and easy to drive nature, the Ritz is a good choice for beginners. But it’s old, so it doesn’t have some of the newer safety features and tech that newer drivers might expect. The other factor is that if a model was discontinued, the availability of spare parts and service support for that model. For those on a budget, the Ritz's reputation for reliability could turn out to be low maintenance. And on the flip side, newer entry level cars have more up to date features and perhaps better safety ratings. It is a choice between sticking with a proven, cost effective approach or moving to newer, albeit more expensive, options that come with modern amenities and safety tech.

As a first car the Ritz is still relevant. It's easy, it's reliable, and it's not going to cost a fortune. Ideal for getting started.

I began with a Ritz and liked it. For a new driver in 2024, I’d likely want something with a bit more modern safety features than the 2013 Altima offers.

It depends on the budget. If it's between a base model of a new car and a well maintained Ritz, I would go for Ritz.

Ritz is ideal for learning. It’s a tall design, which provides great visibility, that builds confidence.

When I get a newer car I want something with more tech, things like a reverse camera are very helpful for new drivers.

There’s not bad for a budget option. So just make sure to find a well maintained one.

I'd be worried about safety. New cars are much better at protecting you in a crash, and these days ABS and airbags are standard on newer cars.

It's a great learner's car! It's easy to drive and park and if you ding it, parts are cheap.
