Is the Pulsar 250F’s braking enough for the bike?
by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views10 comments
Riders have been discussing the braking system on the Pulsar 250F, given that the bike is capable of fast riding. Both front (300mm) and rear (230mm) are fitted with single channel ABS. These specs look good on paper, but real world experiences differ. Riders, also, praise braking performance, good initial bite and progressive feel. Some claim that the brakes simply do not have the stopping power of a bike in this category, whether it’s in an aggressive riding or emergency situation. There's also an argument to be had about the single channel ABS, but is dual channel ABS not something that should be standard at this price? We also frequently discuss brake fade during long downhill sections, and the effectiveness of the rear brake. The 250F could benefit from some aftermarket pads or some braided lines, some owners have claimed that might improve braking performance so there's talk about the best brake upgrades that one might find in the 250F.

I wish they had more initial bite, but the progressive feel is nice for smooth stops in traffic.

It’s a good match for the bike performance. Remember, however, more powerful brakes are dangerous for inexperienced riders.

I expected something better for the price. My old 200NS had sharper brakes.

I have never had a problem, even on long mountain rides. Or maybe I'm not riding hard enough!

They are not bad, they just take some getting used to. They’re quite effective once you learn to use them properly.

The rear is pretty weak, but the front brake is good. I only use it for low speed maneuvering.

I switched to sintered pads and it made a big difference. They feel much more confidence inspiring now.

The letdown is the single channel ABS. A 250cc bike should be dual channel standard in 2025.

I think they're fine. This isn't a track bike, remember? They are more than adequate for street use.

On normal riding the brakes are decent, but they are definitely underpowered when you really push it.
