Is the Nissan Sylphy a good car for a first car?
So, should it be surprising that choosing a first car is a big decision for many young drivers or those new to car ownership? As an easy to drive, fairly affordable car, the Nissan Sylphy is often a car that is mentioned when discussing good first cars. Opinions are all over the place when it comes to whether it's the best choice in its class, however. The debate is about factors such as safety features, running costs, insurance rates and ease of maintenance. The Sylphy's comfortable ride and easy controls have made it a favorite for some, while others say newer drivers might be better off with brands known for higher reliability. The long term value proposition is often brought up — is the Sylphy a good investment as a first time car, or are there better options that may cost a little more up front but will hold better resale value or have lower ownership costs over time?
I think it's a solid choice. Not too expensive to maintain, decent fuel economy and easy to drive.
No, get a Honda Civic. Better resale value in the long run, more reliable.
It depends on what you want. The Sylphy is great if you want something that’s comfortable and spacious. However, if you’re after sporty handling, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
As a driving instructor I would say it’s a good first car. It’s easy to control, and visibility is good.
Consider buying used. For the price of a base model new one, you can get a higher spec Sylphy.
I wouldn't want to get a first car with a CVT. Repair can be expensive if it fails.
It’s an okay choice, but there are a lot more interesting young driver choices out there.
