Is the new oil cooled engine in the Pulsar 250F as good as the hype?
The new oil cooled engine of the Pulsar 250F was a big deal for Bajaj, making a big deal out of improved performance and efficiency. That has led to discussions among riders about whether it actually lives up to these promises. Others say the engine is smooth, and that it doesn't vibrate as much as Pulsars of old. Some say the power delivery seems tame and doesn't have the exciting character of prior models. Debates rage over real world fuel efficiency, with some claiming impressive figures and others saying it isn't hugely better than air cooled engines. Another hot topic is long term reliability, as the technology is relatively new for Bajaj in this segment. Oil-cooling, compared to traditional air-cooling systems, is also another point of contention among owners and potential buyers; maintenance costs and complexity are also issues.
It is certainly a smoother ride than the old air cooled Pulsars. No more numb hands after a long ride!
I mean, I miss the old feel of the older engines. This one is too refined, it’s almost boring.
The efficiency is legit. On the highway at least, I'm getting way better mileage than my old 220F.
That’s an improvement, but not revolutionary. You won't see KTM levels of performance.
I really like that it doesn’t heat up in traffic. That’s a huge plus for city riding.
I love the engine, but long term reliability concerns me. For Bajaj, it’s still pretty new tech.
Power delivery is super linear. It’s great for beginners, but experienced riders may find it boring.
I’ve done 15,000 km with zero issues. Seems pretty bulletproof so far.
It’s a good balance between performance and efficiency. Not the fastest, but fast enough for most riders.
