Is the MG Majestor too big for Indian roads?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
The MG Majestor is being positioned as a giant D+ segment SUV, bigger even than the already giant Gloster. Its imposing dimensions raise questions about how well it will be able to negotiate India's often congested, narrow roads. Challenges arise with such vehicles in urban areas with tight lanes, limited parking spaces and crowded markets. Also, many of the highways and rural roads in India are not built to accommodate such large vehicles comfortably. On the other hand, the Majestor's size could command the road and increase the safety of the occupants. This question is to start a debate on the practicality of super sized SUV's in the Indian context taking into account their maneuverability, parking, fuel efficiency and over all driving experience in different types of road conditions in India.

It's all relative. To someone who has been used to driving a Nano, even a Swift seems big. People will get used to the Majestor's size, just like they did with other SUVs, give it time.

I wonder if you’ve ever seen the potholes on some of our roads. A Majestor is a big SUV, the only thing that might not break an axle when going over them.

We’re missing the point here, I believe. Whether it fits, or we need cars this big, it's not. Where did fuel efficiency and our carbon footprint reduction go?

Yes, it’s too big for cities. But for highway cruising and road trips? This beast would be perfect. How comfortable would that feel on those long drives!

The big thing is not size. Simply look at the number of Fortuners and Endeavours on our roads. If they really want the car, people find a way to make it work.

Are you kidding me? This thing is a behemoth! It is like trying to park an elephant in a phone booth. You won't find a spot in any mall parking lot.

Size doesn't matter, it's about the skill of the driver. I've seen people in Innovas drive through the gullies of Old Delhi, the narrowest of gullies. The Majestor will be fine if they can do that.
