Is the Mahindra XUV.e8’s three screen setup a game changer or just a gimmick?

In the interior of the Mahindra XUV.e8, there will be a special three screen setup — a digital driver's display, a central infotainment screen and a separate screen for the front passenger. It's a very uncharacteristic layout for a mass market SUV, but reminiscent of high end luxury vehicles. There’s no doubt that it certainly adds a wow factor to the interior, but there are debates as to its practicality, and whether or not it is a distraction, and whether it actually enhances the user experience. It’s a step forward in automotive technology, some argue, while others view it as an unnecessary complication that threatens to overburden drivers with too much information. The long term reliability and costs of such a complex system in a mainstream vehicle is also discussed.

It’s going to be laggy and frustrating to use, let’s be real. Even Indian roads are bumpy enough without trying to hit tiny touch targets on three separate screens.

Mahindra is a smart move I think. That will bring in younger buyers, people who are accustomed to having multiple screens throughout their day. This is about staying relevant in a digital age.

This is a gimmick plain and simple. That's just Mahindra trying to one up the competition. Better range or performance would be a better choice for me over fancy screens.

I'm a tech enthusiast and I'm all for it. The more screens you have, the more things you can customize. It should be great for road trips with navigation on one display and entertainment on another.

I'm on the fence about this. I worry about the cost of repairs if one of those screens busts, but it looks futuristic. Besides, do we actually need that much digital real estate?

I honestly think it’s overkill. One good screen is enough. Glare and distractions while driving are just asking for three screens.

No doubt a game changer! The XUV.e8 will feel like a spaceship on wheels with three screens. I can already picture how awesome it’ll be to have info on each screen.
