Is the KTM 990 Super Duke R still useful in the current motorcycle world?

It had a 999cc V-twin engine that cranked out around 120 horsepower and was known for its nimble handling and visceral riding. But now with the motorcycle technology advancing so fast and with new models such as the 1290 Super Duke R out, some riders are questioning whether the 990 still has what it takes. The question here is whether the 990 Super Duke R's unique character and performance are still worthy of competing with modern bikes, or has it best been relegated to collector status?

I think it’s a sweet spot. Exciting enough to be fun, but not so overpowered that it’s unusable on public roads. It also has character in spades.

It's all about perspective. If you want the latest and greatest, get a new bike. If you don’t have a problem with mechanical purity and analog feedback, the 990 is still a gem.
