The KTM 690 Enduro R is widely known as a jack of all trades, capable of tackling both off-road and on-road. On the face of it, it's a bike that can go from daily commutes to long-distance adventure rides and light trail riding. However, there is a lot of debate amongst motorcycle enthusiasts as to whether or not there truly is a true 'do-it-all' bike. One camp believes specialized bikes are better for specific purposes, while another group can appreciate the versatility of the jack-of-all-trades machine. Through interrogation of the real-world capabilities and limitations of this particular KTM model in particular riding scenarios, we are going to find out if this machine lives up to its hype as a true 'do it all' machine.

I'd say after having one for a year, it's more of a 'do most things' bike. For mixed riding it's great, but if you ride one type of thing, there are better options out there.

I think people put too much on the "do it all" label. It is incredibly versatile, but it's not going to replace a dedicated MX bike or a comfy touring machine. So much is down to your riding style, finding that balance between the two.

The 690 is a great all-rounder that really shines when you mod it for your specific needs. With the right upgrades, it can be an awesome adventure bike or a workable trail machine.

As a former owner of both dedicated dirt bikes and street bikes, the 690 is a compromise. Sure, it's versatile, but in no one area is it exceptional. I sold mine and got separate ones for road and dirt.

It's the closest thing to a true do-it-all bike out there, I'd say. It's got enough power for highways, it's light enough for trails, and it's comfortable enough for all-day rides. All you have to do is to just adjust your expectations a little.

I won’t say it’s a do-it-all bike, because it’s not, but it’s a great bike. It's too big and strong for tight single track and too uncomfortable for long highway rides. A jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Absolutely! I've had mine for two years, and for the daily commute and weekend trail rides, it has been amazing. It's not perfect at everything but damn good at most.
