Is the Jimny worth its high price?

Ever since its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been making a lot of noise but the pricing of the car has become a bone of contention among potential buyers and enthusiasts. The compact off roader will have a starting price of ?12.74 lakhs, going up to ?15.05 lakhs for the top variant, but many are questioning if it is worth the price. This price range is where the Jimny is battling with bigger, more powerful vehicles like the Mahindra Thar, and that makes for a debate. Often people justify the price by pointing to its unique design, off road capabilities and Suzuki's reliability. But its small size, lack of practicality for day to day use, and comparatively meagre on road performance have left some wondering what it’s all for. Pricing strategy has triggered a discussion about brand value, niche appeal, and what premium customers are willing to pay for a lifestyle vehicle.

Absolutely not worth it. You are paying Thar money for a glorified Alto on steroids. It’s an ancient engine, and you don’t get nearly as much bang for your buck as you would with other options in that price range.

It's all about perspective. If you’re looking for a capable off-roader that can squeeze through tight trails that a Thar cannot, then it’s worth every penny. And Maruti is as reliable as ever.

It's expensive, but you're getting Jimny's global pedigree. It’s a cult classic for a reason, and we finally get it in India. That alone makes it worth it for enthusiasts.

I think it's overpriced considering what it gives. Yes, it's cute, and it's capable off road, but for regular use you're giving up a lot. There is not enough space and dated interiors that don’t command the price.

The pricing is a niche product. The Jimny meets that bill if you’re in hilly areas, and if you’re looking for a compact 4x4. At that price point, there are better options for everyone else.

They’re offering discounts like crazy, but the price is high. Suddenly, it becomes much more attractive with ?3 lakhs off. It’s clear that Maruti knows it’s overpriced and is adjusting.

If you're buying it as a second car for weekend adventures, that's worth it. It’s hard to justify it as a primary vehicle unless you really, really love the Jimny’s character.
