Is the Jimny practical enough for city use?

Though the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is meant to be an off-road vehicle, it’s seeing interest as a daily driver in urban areas. This makes many wonder if it is feasible for use in everyday traffic in congested Indian cities. Because the Jimny's body has been size compacted, it is easy to maneuver and park in tight spaces in urban environments. But it is also small, which equals too little space on the inside for families or people who must transport bigger stuff on a regular basis. This debate is also influenced by the fact that the vehicle's off road focused suspension and relatively basic interior amenities compared to similarly priced urban SUVs. Also, its body on frame design and off road tuning is a topic of discussion among potential buyers who are considering it for city commutes as well.

For city use I think it's overkill. It’s off road capability that you’ll very seldom use, and you’re paying for it. If you want to be purely an urban driver, a regular hatchback or compact SUV makes more sense.

People don't give the Jimny enough credit for being practical. When you need space, the rear seats fold flat. It's all about smart packing.

In its own way, it’s practical. It takes away some comfort and space, but allows you to take on any road condition the city throws at you, especially during the monsoons.

It has been months since I've been using it daily and it is great. It’s not as comfortable as a sedan, but the high seating position and easy driving make up for it.

Depends on your needs. It's fine for a single person or couple. But you'll soon realize that it's limiting if you need to cart kids or groceries around often.

It's perfect for city use! They’re small, so they’re easy to park, they’re easy to see and you can get around traffic. And it’s got that cool factor that boring family cars don’t have.

Absolutely not. The boot space is a joke, it's too stiff for comfortable daily commutes and it's too small for a family. It's not a daily driver, it's a weekend toy.
