Is the Hyundai Staria’s futuristic design a hit or a miss?
The Hyundai Staria’s design is, quite simply, unlike anything else you’ll see on the road today. It's certainly eye catching with its sleek spaceship like exterior with full width LED light bar and massive windows. So does this bold styling work for a minivan or is it just too out there? For some, it is praised for its uniqueness and forward thinking design, for others it’s polarizing or impractical. In particular the front grille area has been a point of contention, with some finding it plasticky or cheap looking in person. It also forces you to question how practical the design is from an aerodynamic, maintenance, or even useability standpoint. Does Hyundai’s Staria push the boundaries of automotive design in the right direction, or too far?
I absolutely love it! It's nice to see that minivan that doesn't look like a boring box on wheels. Looks like the Staria is driving straight out of a sci fi movie.
It's a miss for me. It is unique, but it also looks kinda goofy. For family vehicles, I like a more classic understated design.
I think it's brilliant. Hyundai is going out on a limb and pushing design forward. Sure it's not for everyone, but the auto industry needs more of this kind of innovation.
It's cool front end, but the rest of it looks like a loaf of bread. It’s not trying too hard to be futuristic, it just looks awkward.
It's growing on me. I thought it was too weird at first, but the more I see it, the more I like it. Definitely a conversation starter!
I'm concerned with the practicality of that design. A nightmare for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency must be all those curves and that massive front end.
In photos, it’s a hit, but in person, it’s a miss. The closest you get to the plastic looking grille area really cheapens the overall appearance.
