Is the Honda SP125's lack of ABS a deal-breaker in 2025?

by @geeta.autosover 1 year ago0 views10 answers
As safety features become increasingly important to motorcycle buyers, the absence of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) on the Honda SP125 has been a topic of discussion. While ABS is mandatory for bikes above 125cc in India, it's optional for this segment. Some riders argue that ABS should be standard on all bikes, regardless of engine size, due to its significant safety benefits. Others contend that the added cost of ABS might not be justified for a commuter bike in this price range. There's also debate about whether the SP125's braking performance without ABS is sufficient for its intended use. With some competitors offering at least single-channel ABS in this segment, it's worth considering if the lack of this feature makes the SP125 less appealing to safety-conscious buyers in 2025.

It's not a deal-breaker, but it's definitely a missed opportunity for Honda to stand out in the segment.

In wet conditions, I really miss having ABS. It's a feature that becomes more relevant in certain situations.

For the price of the SP125, I'd rather invest in better gear than pay extra for ABS on a commuter bike.

The lack of ABS is offset by the bike's light weight and good balance. It's easy to control even in emergency braking situations.

It's disappointing that Honda hasn't offered it even as an option. Other brands are ahead in this aspect.

I don't think it's necessary for a 125cc commuter. Proper brake maintenance and riding skills are more important.

For new riders, the lack of ABS is definitely a concern. It's a safety feature that can make a huge difference.

I wish it had ABS, but the combi-brake system (CBS) on the SP125 is a decent compromise for its price point.

It's not a deal-breaker for me. The SP125's brakes are good enough for city use, and ABS would just increase the cost.

Absolutely. In 2025, there's no excuse for not having at least single-channel ABS on any bike.
