Is the Honda RC213V-S really worth its enormous price?

The price of the street-legal version of Marc Marquez's MotoGP bike, the Honda RC213V-S, is jaw-dropping, coming in at around $184,000. That makes it a class of its own and prices it out of reach of even the most premium production superbikes. It has amazing technology and performance that it gets straight off the back of MotoGP, but it comes with some restrictions for road use. The bike is restricted in power to meet street-legal requirements, and some of the more advanced features that you get on the full race bike—the seamless gearbox, pneumatic valves, etc.—aren't there. All things considered, there’s a lot of debate among motorcycle enthusiasts about whether the RC213V-S is worth its steep price tag or whether it’s more of a collector’s piece than a practical high-performance machine.

Absolutely worth it! Basically, you’re getting a MotoGP bike with lights. The price alone is justified by engineering and exclusivity.

No way. You could buy a fleet of top-tier superbikes and have cash left over for track days for that money.

It's a tough call. The road legal restrictions kind of take away the purpose of having a MotoGP replica, but the technology is incredible.

If you're a serious collector or Honda enthusiast, it's worth every penny. It's motorsport history you can actually ride.

Instead, I would rather put that money towards a car. At least I could plug it into my wall daily without needing to worry about it being stolen or crashed.

And it’s only worth it if you have the skills to exploit its potential. For most riders, it's overkill.

The bike is insane, and the price is insane too. That experience is priceless; it's the closest thing to riding Marquez's bike.

Rahul on 02 January 2025 20:12
Is it not worth it just for performance, but as an investment piece? Absolutely. If you buy these, they will only appreciate in value.

Rajat on 04 January 2025 11:27
For track use, maybe. For the street, it's just an overpriced conversation piece.

Abhinit on 06 January 2025 03:03
If you’re asking if it’s worth it, you can’t afford it. It's a very niche market for wealthy enthusiasts.
