Is the Honda CB150R Streetster all it is hyped up to be for urban commuting?

Although the CB150R Streetster has been getting noticed as a stylish urban commuter, some riders wonder if it delivers on the hype. Opinions differ on whether it really delivers, but it’s marketed as a nimble city bike with enough power for highway jaunts. It’s compact, fuel efficient and modern, and many are attracted to those things, but others say there are better options in the 150cc class. And the bike's price point is also up for debate – is it worth what you get? In this article we will look at how different people view this Honda and if it lives up to expectations for daily city riding and occasional longer trips.

The CB150R replaced my scooter for my commute and it’s been a game changer. With the extra power and better handling I feel a lot safer in traffic. On top of that, it's still small enough to be able to park in tight spots.

Don’t forget the style factor! With a neo retro look, the CB150R turns heads. People have asked me about it at stoplights. If you are into aesthetics, definitely worth a try.

I have mine for a year and, although it is a good bike, I already want to upgrade. Beginners will love it but experienced riders may feel it’s missing something. It could also be better for our pothole riddled roads too.

I love my CB150R as a new rider. Not intimidating, but still sporty. I already had the ABS save me once when a car cut me off. It’s perfect for a first bike or city commuter.

I think it depends what your needs are. If you spend most of your time riding in the city, with the occasional short highway stint, it’s great. It is amazingly fuel efficient, nearly 45 km/l in mixed riding. However, if you’re going to be doing a lot of long distance trips, you might want something with more oomph.

I think it's overhyped though. At the price you could buy a used 250cc with more power for highway riding. When you get up to 80 km/h it feels a bit underpowered. The city can have it, but it's not my kind of bike.

Absolutely worth it! For 6 months I've been commuting on mine and it's great for getting through traffic. Great visibility and smooth throttle response for stop and go riding. Yes, it’s not the cheapest 150cc out there, but the build quality and reliability more than make up for it.
