Is the Guerrilla 450 for new riders too powerful?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
The introduction of the Guerrilla 450 has stirred controversy as to whether its output suits the new rider or the rider moving up from a smaller displacement bike. It's a big step up from popular entry level models, with 40 bhp. There are those who say that the bike's power delivery and high tech features are too much for a new rider to safely manage. Some argue that the bike's manageable weight and user friendly electronics make it a good option for responsible beginners who wish to grow into their skills. The discussion usually includes discussions of rider safety, learning curves and the bike's versatility among many skill levels.

Let’s be honest, 40 bhp isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of things. That's more than enough power for a serious new rider. Don't be an idiot with the throttle, just don't.

I think it's fine for new riders as long as you take proper training courses and respect the bike's capabilities – I started on a Guerrilla 450. If you know how to use the controls, the power is there but it’s not intimidating.

It depends on the individual. Some of these new riders can handle the power responsibly, they are naturally cautious. Some could get in over their heads. Sometimes it's more about maturity than experience.

I would argue that it is too much for a complete beginner. If you have no experience, start with something smaller like a Classic 350 or Hunter 350 and move up to the Guerrilla.

Not at all! Power delivery on the Guerrilla 450 is very manageable. It's not a crazy sportbike and the electronics keep things in check. It’s a great bike to grow with if you’re responsible.
