Is the e2o Plus a viable fleet vehicle for businesses or a vehicle for ride sharing?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views5 answers
As ride sharing services gain traction and as more and more emphasis is being put on reducing carbon footprint, electric vehicles like the e2o Plus appear to be an attractive proposition for fleet operators. It has the definite advantages of low running costs and zero emissions. But there are worries about the car's range, how long it takes to charge, and how long the car will last under heavy use. Some businesses have tried the electric fleet, others aren't so sure. It’s also a factor of the initial cost of the vehicle versus the budget petrol cars. In this article, let us talk about e2o Plus as a commercial vehicle and how it fares in terms of total cost of ownership, passenger comfort and operational challenges in the Indian context.

It's a good idea, but the e2o Plus isn't the right car for it. And we need something with more space and range. It might make more sense for fleets when Mahindra launches a bigger electric sedan or SUV.

I believe it works well for some niche markets. Campus transportation, planned city short distance taxi services, or hotel shuttles, etc. But for general ride-sharing? Not yet.

With the right infrastructure, it could work. It might be viable if ride sharing companies set up their own fast charging network. The big problem at the moment is the downtime for charging.

As a frequent Uber user I would hate to be stuck in an e2o Plus. I'd be worried the battery would run low and get stranded, and it's too small. Not practical at all for ride sharing.

I have a small car rental business and we added two e2o Plus to our fleet. They do make for perfect short city trips, and the running costs are great. The downside is they have limited range so we can’t use them for longer rentals.
