Is the DB11 V8 a 'real' Aston Martin without the V12?
Absolutely. The V8 is as much an Aston as the V12. The engine is just a part of the whole experience.
No way. And V12 power is synonymous with Aston Martin. The V8 is a Mercedes wearing a fancy suit.
I have driven both and to be honest, the V8 feels more nimble and fun on the twisty roads. It's not an Aston of that kind, but it's an Aston nonetheless.
Though the V8 doesn’t have the same bragging rights, it’s more efficient and likely more reliable in the long haul. That's a win in my book.
An Aston is as long as it looks like an Aston and drives like an Aston. It’s not just the engine.
Aston has made a smart move, I think. The V8 allows the brand to open up to a wider audience without diluting the top end offerings.
Really, most DB11 owners aren’t going to be tracking their cars. For a car that is all about grand touring, the V8 is more than enough.
It's a tough call. The V8 is great, but the Aston V12 is hand built and it is special.
Who cares about cylinder count? By 2025, we should be glad Aston is still making gas engines at all!
The V8 might not be traditional Aston, but then, neither was the DB11's design when it first arrived. Brands evolve, and that's okay.
