Is the Bullet 350 ES hype all about the 'thump'?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
For decades, the thump of the Royal Enfield motorcycle, especially that of the Bullet range, has been a major selling point. This distinctive exhaust note has enthusiasts raving about it, saying it’s a big part of the Bullet experience. But some riders claim that with modern emission norms and engine updates, the new Bullet 350 ES has lost the sound of the old Bullets. It has led to debates whether the bike still gives the real Bullet experience or is it just riding on its legacy. However, there are also talks about the sound themselves to prove that you can't be better or more efficient (as those Bullets offer) as those Bullet bikes do.

From a long time Bullet owner, I can say the thump is still there, but more refined. Well, it’s like saying a gentleman’s cough is like a caveman’s roar – both have their own charm.

It’s nice to get the thump, but it’s not everything. The old ones ride smoother and are more reliable than the new Bullet 350 ES. That’s something I’d take over a louder exhaust any day.

It's a mixed bag. Emissions tame the stock exhaust, but it’s easy enough to get that classic thump back. You just have to be ready to receive some dirty looks from your neighbors!

I think the hype about thump is overrated, honestly. The new Bullet 350 ES sounds decent, it’s not the earth shattering roar people make it out to be. It’s better to concentrate on the bike’s overall performance and comfort.

Absolutely! It’s not going to be as thumpy as the old cast iron engines, but it’s still there, and it’s glorious. You don’t beat that feeling when you fire up a Bullet and you hear that distinctive rumble.
