Is the Bajaj Discover 100 5G all the hype it is made out to be?

When it launched, the Discover 100 5G was touted as a game changer in the commuter segment. It comes equipped with 5-speed gearbox and DTS Si engine and, Bajaj claimed, offered the right mixture of performance and fuel efficiency. Now that it has been discontinued, though, opinions vary as to whether it met expectations. Its smooth ride and decent mileage has been praised by some, but others claim it was overhyped, and didn't deliver enough to set it apart from competitors. Bike enthusiasts continue to debate if the Discover 100 5G was really innovative, or a clever marketing ploy. So what do you think - did it deserve more success as a solid commuter option, or did it fail to live up to the promises?

The bike was a solid bike for its time. Not revolutionary, but definitely underrated. It wasn't the market for it.

Initially, the hype was real, but it didn’t evolve to stay competitive. Good concept, poor execution in the long run.

I loved mine! That 5th gear was a godsend for long rides and the super smooth engine. Wish they'd bring it back.

Another commuter bike with fancy marketing, meh. Nothing special about it really.

It was ahead of its time. In a 100 cc, the 5 speed was unique then. Shame it got discontinued.

Overhyped for sure. Performance was meh but the mileage was good. My friend's Splendor felt peppier.

Honestly, I owned one for 3 years and it was pretty decent. So not mind blowing, but reliable and did the job. Highway rides in the 5th gear were nice.
