Is the Bajaj Avenger 200 in need of a major overhaul?

For years, the Avenger has been a part of Bajaj's lineup and has been offering an affordable cruiser for Indian riders. But some enthusiasts are beginning to feel that the Avenger is showing its age, as competitors roll out new models with up to date styling and modern features. However, the bike's basic design and technology has not changed much over the last few years, and hence there has been a debate if Bajaj should go for a complete overhaul or a new model altogether. However, this discussion also includes factors such as changing consumer preference, more stringent emission norms and the growth of electric vehicles. Some riders love the Avenger’s classic look, and proven reliability, while others feel it’s out of date when it comes to performance and features.

Absolutely! The Avenger is way overdue for a major refresh. After all, other manufacturers are constantly innovating, while it’s been basically the same bike for years now. If Bajaj want to stay relevant in the cruiser market, they need to step up their game.

I don't believe it needs a complete rewrite. The Avenger also has a classic design that is still good looking. Perhaps they could have kept the engine competitive with some minor updates, and features.

The Avenger really needs a bigger engine option. If the Dominar's engine would be fitted into a 400cc Avenger, that would be a game changer in the affordable cruiser segment.

What I’d love to see Bajaj do with the Avenger is to take a more retro approach. Just give it some classic styling cues, but with modern tech like Royal Enfield did with the Meteor.

It might be interesting to see an electric Avenger. But it would be a bold one and perhaps the right thing to do, given how the push towards EVs is imminent, and could make for a smart long term strategy for Bajaj.
