Is the Avenger 220 a good bike for new riders to begin with?

Getting a first motorcycle is a big deal for new riders. When it comes to beginner friendly bikes, the Bajaj Avenger 220 often pops up in the discussion, especially those who intend to cruise on a bike. It seems to be a good candidate with its relatively low seat height, manageable power output and easy going nature. But there’s also the weight, maintenance requirements, and how forgiving it is of beginner mistakes to consider. Its relaxed, upright riding position is good for newbies, say some, while others suggest a more standard riding position is better for developing good riding skills. The question of whether its power is right for beginners or whether it might be too much for some new riders to handle safely is also there. This debate brings into play the question of what makes a perfect first bike and does the Avenger 220 fit the bill?

Absolutely! Avenger 220 is a good bike to start with. It’s not too powerful that it’s intimidating, but it has enough oomph to keep things interesting. And that low seat height is a confidence builder for new riders.

It's not ideal, but I would say okay. The forward set footpegs may not be easy for newbies to get the riding techniques right. You might be better off in a more normal riding position.

It depends on the rider. If you like cruisers and wanna stick with that, then yeah it's a good one. If you don’t know what kind of riding you’ll like, it may be best to get something a little more versatile first.

I began with an Avenger 220 and loved it. It's forgiving enough for beginners, but has enough power that it will grow with you as you get better. So just be careful of its weight when you're just starting out.

I think personally it’s a bit too heavy for a first bike. Low speed manoeuvres and parking may prove difficult for new riders. Building confidence may be better served by something lighter.

It’s a good option, but not the best. Relaxed ergonomics are great for city riding, but could create bad habits later on for more spirited riding.

It's a pretty good first bike. Not too expensive, easy to ride and comfortable. All I ask is that you are comfortable with its size before you commit.
