Deciding on your first motorcycle can be a challenging task if you are stuck between different model and brand. Many new riders are eyeing the Aprilia STX 150, but there has been a lot of debate about whether or not it is the right choice for beginners. The 150cc engine offers good power and manageability, argue some, but it could be too much for someone just starting out, say others. Things like whether it’s easy to handle, weight, maintenance costs and ultimately the riding experience. Now that we have a little idea of what the STX 150 is, let’s dive into what experienced riders and newbies alike have to say about it as a starter bike.

If you’re a mature beginner, I’d recommend it. It's a bit more oomph than your average learner bike.

The STX 150 is a good solid choice. Enough pep to keep you interested, but not a rocket ship. Perfect for building skills.

I don't think a first bike needs to be overkill. Begin with something cheaper that you won’t feel bad about dropping.

The bike is a great one to learn on and grow into. It won’t grow out of you as quickly as a 125cc.

No, go for something like a Honda CB125F. A beginner may be shocked by the Aprilia's maintenance costs.

It really depends on your size and your level of confidence. For smaller riders or those that are really nervous, it might be a bit much.

Absolutely! I started on an STX 150 and it worked perfectly. Just enough power to have fun, not enough to get you in trouble.
