High powered electric scooter Aftek Elmo is getting a lot of attention lately. On paper, with its 3kW motor and claimed 145km range, it should be a promising daily driver. But is it really that good for real world commuting? Are the performance and features really practical for normal every day riders or is it all overkill? In comparison to more budget friendly e scooters, what are the pros and cons? So, is the higher price justified for the average commuter? So let’s discuss the pros and cons of selecting the Elmo as a daily driver compared to other offerings on the market.

For the past month, I've been using the Elmo for my 15km commute and so far I love it. The range anxiety is gone and the power is great for hills. Yes, it’s expensive for some, but the build quality and performance are worth it to me.

I think it's honestly overkill for the vast majority of people's needs. For half the money, you can get a decent e-scooter that'll work just fine for most commutes. The Elmo does appear to be more of an enthusiast product than one meant for practical daily use.

If you've upgraded from a budget scooter, the difference is night and day. The ride quality of the Elmo at higher road speeds, but also when overall, make my commute that much more enjoyable. It's definitely worth considering, if you can afford it.

It is a nice range, but I'm not convinced I need that much power to commute. And it’s a pain to carry up stairs or onto public transit because of the weight. It seems impractical for the mixed commutes.

It depends on your commute, I think. The Elmo could be a game changer for you if you have long distances or lots of hills. If you've got short flat commutes, you're probably better off with something cheaper and more portable.

Just don’t forget about maintenance costs. Scooters that are more powerful require more service more often. Before pulling the trigger, factor that into the long term costs.

As a car replacement, the Elmo's been great for me. For commuting and errands, the performance makes me feel safer in traffic, and I use it. It is an investment, but I'm saving on gas and parking.
