Is Renault KWID 800 or KWID 1000 worth waiting for?

For average 800 Kms/month usage requirement, I am intending to purchase a good quality hatchback car, based on my requirement for low running cost and good resale value after 5-6 years of use. I will use the car, mostly for unruly city driving (Kolkata), average requirement being not more than 200 Kms. weekly/800 Kms. monthly. The car will hardly be driven on highways, may be a 350 Kms. round trip twice a year. I can exceed my budget up-to Rs. 7.5 Lakhs, for a premium diesel hatchback, or settle for a petrol hatchback with good price-performance ratio. I am unable to decide, as I was waiting for Honda Jazz, it launched, mileage figures for manual transmission petrol variant is not good, diesel E variant will cost me Rs. 7.36-7.37 Lakhs on-road Kolkata, which is a bit steep for an hatchback, Honda Diesel unit is noisy, as per many reviews. I need a value for money vehicle, overall good quality, low maintenance, good resale value, manual transmission gearbox preferred. I would avoid purchasing Hyundai Elite, Volkswagen Polo or low end Datsun Go, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Alto K10 etc. Please suggest me whether I should wait for Renault KWID/KWID 1000 petrol variant, or should I go for Honda Jazz Diesel (E), variant.

According to your use, a petrol car would be the best suited vehicle for you. As you stated, you would not be using the car on highways, making it convenient for you to buy a smaller petrol engine for better fuel efficiency and good city riding experience. All these things point simply in one direction, the KWID. The car would be offered in two different engine options and you can test ride both when available and choose the one which suits you the best. The car will be an excellent vehicle with show stopping capabilities at the entry level only. It comes with an SUV like design and loads of interior features also. The car comes with a touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument console. It comes with an expected price tag of INR 3.5-4.5 lakh and would be the best choice for you in the industry. Honda Jazz petrol can also be considered but it will lack on mileage and will be for INR 6,00,000 and more.
