Is Nexon’s infotainment system as hyped as it seems in 2024?

In recent times, the talking point of Tata Nexon's infotainment system since launching has been Tata Motors constantly updating and improving it over the years. With car technology rapidly improving, discussion is brewing as to whether the Nexon’s system warrants a place on the table in 2024. While some users are lauding its user friendly interface and feature set, others are saying that it is so lagging in responsiveness and integration with the latest technologies of smartphone. But there's also debate over how reliable the system is, as well as how well it ages with time. With infotainment systems gaining more importance in the driver experience, especially for younger buyers, this question looks to see if what the Nexon serves up on the tech front ticks the boxes of 2024's tech savvy consumers and how it does compared to budget and premium alternatives in the market.

Look, in 2024, it's mediocre at best. The problem with the Surface line is that, other than a convertible form factor, there's very little that the separate presentation of the Surface line offers over other brands that are offering much more advanced systems, with better graphics, faster processors, and more features. This needs a major overhaul if Tata wants to stay in the infotainment game.

I actually think that it’s underrated. But it's pretty smooth these days, and having the digital instrument cluster is neat. Nothing’s perfect but for where it is, it’s plenty good enough.

Tata missed an opportunity here but it’s ok. Infotainment system was a killer one that they could have really set themselves apart there. It's not that they innovated, it instead feels as though they ticked the boxes. It doesn’t wow you, but it works.

I'm not a big tech person so it’s very easily to me. As long as the touchscreen is responsive enough for me, I like that there are physical buttons to get to quickly. It's not fancy but it’s functional.

It's a mixed bag. But the UI looks nice, even if it is a little bit glitchy. Bluetooth connectivity is another issue, and the voice commands don’t always work. If Tata want to compete in the tech focused brands, then they need to step up.

I think for what the car costs, it’s pretty good. It's not exactly fancy like some premium brands, but it’s a definite step up over what Tata used to make. All I really need is good working wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps, which it has.

It's decent, it's nothing to shake a stick at. It’s got a good screen size and is pretty intuitive, sometimes it lags but it’s okay. It feels a little dated compared to my friends Kia. For most things it does the job.
