Is modifying the Bajaj Discover 100M for better performance actually worth it or is it a waste of money?

Inspired by various online videos and forum discussions, many Bajaj Discover 100M owners are tempted to modify their bikes for better performance. Some common mods are changing the air filter, adding a free flow exhaust or even boring out the engine. But there’s a bit of a debate about whether or not these modifications actually result in meaningful performance gains or if they’re nothing more than aesthetic waste and possibly dangerous for the bike. There are some riders out there that swear by their mods, saying that they get some serious power gains, while others argue that if you want to be reliable and efficient, leave the bike stock. The conversation frequently includes the weighing of the possible advantages versus the dangers of a reduction in fuel efficiency, enhanced wear and tear, or even lawful problems with extremely adjusted bikes.

The best 'mod' I ever did was changing to synthetic oil. Smoother engine and slightly better mileage. Small changes can have an effect.

I’ve seen some crazy Discover builds with big bore kits and all. Yeah, they’re faster, but the reliability just goes out the window. Not a daily commuter, not worth it.

Just focus on maintenance, not mods. Any day, a well tuned stock Discover will outperform a poorly maintained modified Discover.

All of the above are fun to tinker with but don't actually gain you any performance. I like working on my bike, even if it’s only a little bit.

It’s the small mods that count. It revs more freely now after I polished the ports. You need to know what you're doing or you'll mess things up.

I modified mine with a bigger carb jet and it ran terrible. I went back to stock and learned my lesson. From the factory they are finely tuned engines.

I threw a K&N air filter and a free flow exhaust on it. It definitely felt a bit peppier over the mid range. Just don't expect miracles.

Waste of money, in my opinion. These bikes are not intended to perform, but to be efficient. If you want more power, you’re better off saving up for a bigger bike.
