Is KTM's 1290 Super Duke R worth the big premium price tag?

by @geeta.autosover 1 year ago0 views8 answers
It’s no surprise that the KTM 1290 Super Duke R comes with high-end components and impressive performance, but it also comes with a hefty price tag. Riders, however, question whether the bike is worth its cost, bearing in mind that there are other naked bikes in the market. Is the Super Duke R worth the extra money for enough unique features and performance? Okay, so what is the value proposition of this Austrian powerhouse when it comes to build quality, technology, and how it rides?

I believe it is overpriced for what it is. It's fast and fun, sure, but so are a lot of bikes that cost a lot less. You’re getting the exclusivity factor.

If you think about the components and engineering that goes into it, though, it’s a lot of money, but it starts to make sense. That monster engine, WP suspension, and Brembo brakes don’t come cheap.

Before buying mine, I had a hard time with this, but after a year of owning it, I have zero regrets. It's not a bike; it's an event each time you ride.

It’s a steep price, but man, there’s nothing that rides quite like it. All the specs don’t matter; it’s the whole experience. If you can swing it, it's totally worth it.

It's only worth it if you can really use its potential, I'd say. If you're going to go for most street riding, it's overkill, and you're better off saving some cash with a less extreme bike.

It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. It’s top-notch build quality, and it’s an electronics package that is one of the best in the business. Every time you ride, it feels special.

No way. You’re paying a massive premium for the brand name. With something like an MT10 or S1000R, you can get 90% of the performance for way less money.

Absolutely worth it. You can’t beat the level of performance and technology you get. And that V-twin character is something special you won't get from the Japanese bikes.
