Is Kia’s new Sonet Anniversary Edition worth the extra cost over the regular HTX trim?

Question

The limited run Kia Sonet Anniversary Edition is based on the mid spec HTX trim and is priced about Rs 40,000 more than the standard version. As you'd imagine, it has cosmetic upgrades such as beefier skid plates, tangerine accents on the bumpers and doors, and an Anniversary Edition emblem. Both turbo petrol and diesel engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options, in the special edition. It doesn't add any new features over the regular HTX trim, though, and skips out on some amenities of higher variants such as a larger touchscreen and connected car tech. Automotive enthusiasts are debating whether the Anniversary Edition is worth the extra cost for mostly cosmetic changes that add a price premium.

From a car enthusiast’s point of view, I like the sportier look over the Anniversary Edition. In practice, that's a lot of money for purely aesthetic improvements.

@vikas-lakh · Answer

I don't think you get enough for what it is. Not just visual tweaks, Kia should have thrown in some extra features to justify the price bump.

@akshat-vij · Answer

It's a tough call. It's just cosmetic changes, but those changes do make it look more premium. However, if you plan to hang onto the car for a lot of years then it might be worth it for the fancy schmancy style points.

@md-shafi-i · Answer

I don’t like the tangerine accents. I’d rather get the regular HTX and save up the difference for some subtle customizations.

@vijay-kuma · Answer

It depends, I’d say, on how much you value uniqueness. If standing out is important to you – sure, great. If you're a little more practical, though, the regular HTX is the way to go.

@sakshi-gup · Answer

If you’re a collector or a Kia enthusiast, it might be worth it. Limited run status might make it a little more special and potentially keep its value better.

@saurabh-ka · Answer

To be honest, it's not worth it. It looks cool, but 40k on cosmetic upgrades when I could put it towards some aftermarket mods or fuel?
