Is Ford’s Thar.e too similar to the Ford Bronco?
by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
The Mahindra Thar.e concept has caused a lot of chatter concerning the car's design similarities to the Ford Bronco. However, some say the front end, specifically, resembles a "carbon copy" of the Bronco. The result has been debates about whether off road vehicles ought to be original. Past legal fights between Mahindra and other automakers over design raise concerns that the new van could also court trouble. To others, however, there is only so much that can be done to a boxy off roader, and the Thar.e has enough unique elements to stand on its own. The conversation also covers if these similarities could actually work in Mahindra’s favor as they appeal to a global audience already familiar with the Bronco’s design language.

I think it's smart marketing. It needs to be familiar to a global audience, but with some Mahindra DNA. This will allow them to go international.

But it's more than just the Bronco, it has bits of the Defender and the Wrangler too. They’re like they took all the best bits of iconic off roaders and mashed them together.

I fear this could possibly get Mahindra into trouble with the law. Anyone remember the Roxor controversy with Jeep? They are too original.

There are only so many ways to design a boxy SUV. Who cares if it looks a bit like a Bronco, as long as it performs well.

I actually like it. It looks like the Bronco, but that’s not a bad thing. It's a good looking design and does work for an off roader.

It's almost a clone, come on. Instead of copying others, Mahindra should design better.

And it's definitely inspired by the Bronco, but I don't think it's a straight rip off. It is similar in overall shape but Mahindra has put their own flair on it.
