In real-world riding, how does the KTM 1290 Super Duke R compare to its competitors?
In the hyper-naked segment, it’s a competition to the death with the likes of the Ducati Streetfighter V4, BMW S1000R, and Aprilia Tuono V4 all fighting for the top spot. Spec sheets and magazine reviews can tell us so much, but often real-world riding experiences can paint a different picture. In a world of increasingly heavy and lumbering superbikes, how does the KTM 1290 Super Duke R stack up when it comes to everyday usability, character, and the riding experience? I've ridden most of the big naked bikes, and the Super Duke R just feels different. It’s just so much more character on the V-twin compared to the inline fours, and the chassis is so nimble for a bike that’s so powerful.
I really like the S1000R. It’s a blast on the KTM, but the BMW is more refined and easier to live with day to day. The dealer network is better plus.
