How is riding the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Stealth Black at night different from other colours?
The Stealth Black variant’s all black appearance also raises some questions about night time riding experiences. In this topic we discuss how the dark color scheme impacts visibility, from both the standpoint of how well others can see the rider, and the rider’s own visual experience on the road. Besides other considerations, there would be those about how streetlamps and automobile headlights cooperate with the matte black finish compared to more reflective, glossy paints. Riders could provide feedback on whether they've found ways to enhance their safety (such as adding reflective "hacks" or different lighting). This could also be discussed from a psychological standpoint of night riding on an all black motorcycle and the consequences it may or may not have with rider confidence or rider's sense of place. I ask this question to see if there is anything about riding at night on the Stealth Black that is different from riding on more traditional colored motorcycles.
You can definitely see it at night. I also stuck some reflective tape on the sides and back, which helps a lot. It kinda feels cool though, like you're in the shadows.
I honestly don’t notice much difference. Visibility isn't really affected, since the headlight and taillight are the same as other models. Under streetlights though it looks sick!
At night I feel less visible on the Stealth Black. Was started wearing high vis vest for extra safety. Low light is cool, but a little bit scary, the bike almost disappears.
This thing is awesome for night riding. When light hits the black, it absorbs the light instead of reflecting it, which reduces glare from oncoming headlights. Make sure that your lights work well.
It's a mixed bag. On dark roads it can be a bit too stealthy, but the bike looks incredible in city lights. For safety and style I added some extra LED lights.
In my experience no real difference. The colors don't matter much because modern lights are bright enough. Pulled up to the night meetup though, it does look badass.
And I feel more visible at night, actually. It seems that the black bike and my riding gear contrasts more than anything else. It’s also just cooler riding a blacked out bike after dark.
