How has the Classic 350 built over the years?

Over the years, Royal Enfield has built a reputation. They might be best known for making somewhat unreliable bikes, but they've improved. It’s said that the Classic 350 has better fit and finish, especially in the newer iterations. So how does this apply to long term ownership? What common issues arise after a few thousand miles? Rust, especially for those who ride in varying weather conditions, what about rust? How has maintenance and durability been for those who have owned their Classic 350 for some time now? Is there anything to look out for in any particular weak points? How does it hold up in the long term reliablity department when compared to other bikes in its class?

I've had mine for 15,000 miles in 2 years. It's been held up better than I expected to be honest. All was well, just routine maintenance. It’s solid mechanically, and the paint still looks great.

It's hit or miss. My friend’s Classic 350 has been nothing but trouble, from electrical to rust spots. Mine's been perfect meanwhile. I believe quality control is still a little bit inconsistent.

It is a big improvement from the new J-series engine. It’s way more reliable than the old UCE engine. But you have to remain on top of maintenance. These aren't set it and forget it bikes.

It’s okay build quality, not great. Over time, little things begin to rattle off and come loose. It’s not anything major, but it needs more attention than a Japanese bike would.

Mine has 30,000 miles on it and no problems. It’s all about proper maintenance and not thrashing it. If you treat it well, it will treat you well.

I live in a coastal area, and I’ve had a few rust problems. Nothing major but definitely need to keep an eye on it and prevent it.

It needs more frequent adjustment than my old Yamaha. I actually like to tinker with it, though. That charm of having a Royal Enfield, is part of it.
