How does the Toyota Glanza fare on Indian roads compared to its rivals?

The challenges of vehicle dynamics on Indian roads are quite unique, with vehicles ranging from smooth highways to pothole ridden city roads to rough rural paths. Being a much loved choice in compact hatchback segment, Toyota Glanza finds itself in the thick of things when it comes to these diverse conditions. Various factors from suspension set up, ground clearance and quality of tires also help in deciding if a car is suitable for Indian roads or not. In this aspect, the Glanza offers a similar performance that we see out of its sibling the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, along with competitors such as the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. Owners and enthusiasts speak regularly about how comfortable the car is on rough patches, how stable it is at high speeds, and most of all, how it handles on waterlogged streets during monsoons.

On bad roads, I’ve driven the Glanza and it does not disappoint. Most bumps soak up by the suspension without too much fuss. It’s not an SUV, but it’s pleasant enough for daily use.

Eh, it's okay. The ground clearance could be better I feel. I scraped the bottom a couple times on big speed breakers. In my opinion the Tata Altroz is better at dealing with rough roads.

It's almost perfect for city driving. Steering is light and has no problem getting around tight places. At high speeds it feels a bit floaty on highways.

I think Toyota has done a good job with the suspension tuning. It’s a nice balance of comfort and handling. Not too soft, not too firm.

It’s certainly better than the Baleno. Toyota must have, at least, tweaked the suspension a bit. It feels more planted on the road.

It's the weak point of the stock tires. But, upgrade to better rubber and the Glanza becomes a much more capable car on rough roads.

It’s been great and I’ve taken it on some long road trips. Can run on highways without fuss and is agile enough for ghat roads. You won't expect it to handle like a hot hatch.
