How does the Pulsar Adventure stack up against regular 125cc bikes?
Pulsar Adventure is based on a 125cc platform, but it will have a different performance than standard 125cc commuters. The ADV inspired design suggests it could have more suspension travel and perhaps different gearing to deal with different terrain. All of these things could effect what acceleration it has, top speed, and fuel efficiency than more road focused 125cc bikes. Furthermore, ADV style components (larger fuel tank, crash protection, etc.) will add weight to the bike and thus further change its performance profile. Knowing what these potential differences are is extremely important for riders who are thinking of picking up this bike as an alternative to other 125cc bikes.
I’m sure it’ll be slower than normal 125cc bikes. That tiny engine is going to struggle with all that extra ADV stuff and it's going to add weight.
You're missing the point. It's not about outright speed. With the longer suspension travel it will be way more comfortable on rough roads.
I think it'll surprise people. The weight may be compensated for by Bajaj tuning the engine differently. That could end up being more torquier than we expect.
The real test will be fuel efficiency. It’s a lot of things, and if it can match regular 125cc bikes on that front, a lot of people will overlook any performance deficits.
What I’m more interested in is how it handles. It might be more fun in the twisties, due to the higher center of gravity, than a standard commuter.
Most 125cc riders aren’t speed demons anyway, let’s be real. It will be fine as long as it can keep up with the traffic and do a little bit of off roading.
I’m hoping Bajaj will get the gearing right. It may be slower on the top end, but it’ll have better low end grunt for city riding.
