How does the Ioniq 5 inside measure up to its outside size?
Many are surprised at how much interior space the Ioniq 5 offers when you consider the exterior dimensions. The thing is, it doesn't look like it has that much room on the inside, and this has led to many discussions about its practicality and versatility. There are owners who praise its flat floor and flexible seating arrangements, but there are also those who debate whether it actually provides SUV like space. There is much debate about whether the vehicle is a crossover or hatchback, and opinions differ in terms of how it fits in with traditional vehicle classes. Furthermore, the usability of the frunk (front trunk) space, as well as the overall cargo capacity with seats up and down, is discussed. The interior packaging of the Ioniq 5 is compared to other electric and gas powered vehicles of similar exterior dimensions and how does it have any unique advantages or disadvantages with respect to space utilization?
It's a TARDIS, but bigger on the inside! A huge difference in perceived space is made by the flat floor.
With the cargo area only adequate, the interior is roomy. For something that was being marketed as a crossover, I expected more.
I love the flexible seating. Sliding center console and reclining rear seats make the road trip better.
I find it feels more like a small minivan than an SUV. Lots of passenger space, but could use a bit more cargo space.
The main cargo area is pretty good with the seats down, but the frunk is basically useless.
The back has so much legroom, I was shocked. This is more comfortable than some full size sedans I have been in.
The shape of the cargo area is awkward for large items, but the space is great. It's not a boxy traditional SUV.
The Ioniq 5 feels massive inside, coming from a compact car. This has completely changed how I think about EV packaging.
