How does the GPR 150 hold up against bigger displacement bikes on twisty roads?
Aprilia GPR 150 is a smaller engine size bike which is designed with sporty handling. That begs the question: How does it do in situations where bigger bikes usually excel, like on winding mountain roads or steep canyon curves? If the bike's lightweight chassis and responsive steering gets it through quick direction changes it could allow it to keep close to or even outpace larger bikes in some circumstances. The lower power output could be a disadvantage on straights or when exiting corners, however. There is something interesting to consider on how rider skill, road conditions, and what the GPR 150 brings to the table in terms of displacement and power compare in the real world to other bikes with more displacement and power.
The GPR 150 takes a beating on group rides with bigger bikes, and it does surprisingly well in the twisties. It's all about corner speed!
No comparison. Any road, twisty or straight, the GPR 150 will get smoked by a 600cc supersport.
On tight, technical roads it's actually pretty competitive. What you lose in terms of power is made up for with light weight and sharp handling.
I’ve embarrassed a few bigger bikes on mountain roads with my GPR. The bike is not the focus, it’s all about the rider.
It’s fun in the twisties, but you’ll have to work harder than the bigger bikes to catch up. Exhausting on longer rides.
Its really tight roads where you never get out of 2nd or 3rd gear that the GPR shines on. You'll get left behind at any place with longer straights.
I would say it’s 80 percent as fun as a bigger bike on twisty roads, but with far, far less risk. Ideal for improving your skills.
Twisties is a blast, but you have to carry a lot of corner speed to stay with them. Not for the faint of heart!
