How does the Freedom 125 NG04 Disc’s instrument cluster measure up to modern standards?

A motorcycle instrument cluster is more than a speedometer; it is the rider’s main interface with the bike. In the commuter segment, riders are more and more expecting increasingly advanced features from their instrument panels in today's digital age. Riders and potential buyers have been talking about the Freedom 125 NG04 Disc's cluster. It’s simple and easy to read, some love it, others feel it’s lacking modern touches like a digital display or advanced trip computer functions. Some question whether the information supplied is enough for daily use or whether Bajaj failed to provide enough tech savvy features. The comparison is made with competitors in the 125cc segment, which have fully digital displays with additional functionalities.

In truth, the Freedom 125’s instrument cluster is pretty basic. It works, but it’s 2025, and I at least expected a partial digital display. It has a clear analog speedometer, but it’s old fashioned compared to some competitors.

The Freedom's cluster is actually what I prefer, for its simplicity. The most important thing to remember when you’re riding is that it’s easy to read at a glance. Not everyone needs or wants a fancy digital display that’s hard to read in bright sunlight.

You're both missing the point. The real issue is that Bajaj could have added some useful features without going full digital. A nice middle ground would have been a simple LCD for the odometer and trip meter.

As a daily rider, the Freedom’s cluster is perfectly fine. You can see speed, fuel level and basic indicator lights. How much more do you really need on a commuter bike? For more premium models, save the fancy displays.

Here, I think Bajaj missed an opportunity. It could even have had a basic digital display with things like a clock, real time mileage indicator or service reminder. Daily riders will find them useful and they won't cost too much.

The Freedom 125's target audience probably couldn't care less about having a super high tech display. It’s a simple, reliable design that fits the bike’s ethos. The instrument cluster is no frills commuter.

The biggest drawback I’ve found is the lack of gear position indicator. It’s a small thing, but it’s really useful, especially for newer riders. Bajaj could have easily added this without going overboard on tech.
