How does the Aprilia Tuono 150 track compared to street?

In many ways, the Aprilia Tuono 150 is a well praised sporty character, but opinions vary on whether it truly excels on the racetrack or is more suited to street riding. Others say its racing DNA means it belongs on the circuit with sharp handling and strong brakes which come alive at higher speed. Some argue that its power output is relatively cheap, which slows down the track riding in front of bigger bikes. And there's debate as to whether the Tuono's upright ergonomics, comfortable enough on the street, are a liability when the full-on track work begins. Some owners say the bike's strengths on twisty roads don't necessarily translate to outright lap time performance, either. So let’s take a look at how the Tuono 150 manages to be both a street bike and a track bike.

It's a beast on the track! In the corners, you feel like a hero, because the chassis is so well balanced.

But on track, I don't find it underwhelming. The ergonomics aren’t great for tucking, and it's not got enough power to be exciting on straights.

As a beginner, it’s perfect for track days. Fast enough to have fun, but forgiving enough to learn on.

Street is where it shines. The torquey engine and upright position is the ticket to carving canyons.

I've kept track of mine and it's a lot of fun. It’s not the fastest, but it teaches you good technique.

On track it feels out of its element. That's trying to be something it's not.

It's a great all-rounder. It’s comfortable on the street but has the chops for the occasional track day.

On bigger tracks, the frustrating thing is the limited top speed. But it’s better suited to tighter, more technical circuits.

I love it for track days. It has low running costs compared to bigger bikes, but it’s still tons of fun.

This is more a street bike with track looks. It looks the part, but falls short of giving the full race experience.
