How do you find long highway trips in Hycross as compared to Crysta?
InnoVa Crysta is one gadget that many Indian families as well as organizations have generally turned to when buying a vehicle for long separation travel because it offers a delicate ride, extensive inside and a dependable diesel motor. But the new Hycross has brought big changes to the formula. Moving away from the body on frame rear wheel drive diesel layout, it transitions to front wheel drive, a monocoque construction and hybrid powertrain. Given this significant change of architecture and power train, we wondered how the Hycross would fare over a full tank on an extended highway drive relative to its predecessor. Ride comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, as well as stability at highway drving conditions are the points of comparison between the two models. That's a whole separate debate, which centers around that balance: Can the Hycross hold a candle to the Crysta's reputation as a highway cruiser, despite the entirely different approach to design and engineering?
In highways, the Hycross is actually better. With its monocoque construction it rides smoother and is easier to handle. And because it's a hybrid system, you will save a ton on fuel.
The Crysta is the ideal car for taking trips on the highways. It’s perfect for long distances with maximum diesel torque and rear wheel drive. In comparison the Hycross feels underpowered.
It's a trade-off. A better comfortable and more efficient car than the Crysta, but there is no Oomph when it comes to pulling power. In the Highway Cruising case, the Hycross wins. I’ll still go for the Crysta for heavy loads or mountainous terrain.
On highway trips, the Hycross is a game changer. Long drives are far less tiring with the ADAS features and quieter than the Crysta’s cabin.
Out on the highways, I miss the Crystas diesel engine. The petrol – hybrid setup just doesn't have the effortless cruising ability of the Hycross.
There's no doubt the Hycross is the clear winner for family trips. It’s so comfortable, filled with great features, and the fuel efficiency on a car this big is fantastic.
At high speeds the Crysta feels more planted. What all this means is that the Hycross’s lighter build and FWD make it feel less stable than most heavier and heavier vehicles like the RAV4, and especially in crosswinds.
