How do the results of the TecPac model compare to those of DLC in video games?

Bajaj’s Chetak Urbane electric scooter subscription model, called TecPac, has some similarity to downloadable content (DLC) in video games. In both, consumers are able to acquire additional features or content with an additional cost beyond the primary purchase price. This comparison prompts interesting questions about what consumers expect and what industry practices are in other sectors. DLC isn’t a new thing. It's well known in the gaming world, and often controversial. There are gamers that like to be able to extend their game play with new content and gamers that feel that DLC is content that should have been included in the base game. This model can be applied to vehicles, but with new considerations, such as safety, long term value, and the nature of ownership in the digital age. The parallel between these two industries could help us understand how consumers might interact with and react to subscription based features in vehicles over time.

It's worse than DLC. With games at least you’re not risking your life if you don’t buy the extra content.
