How customizable will the XSR300 be?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Retro and neo retro bikes have seen a big trend of customization. Riders sometimes want to make changes to their machine to suit their personal style or to increase performance. Yamaha’s XSR series has generally been built with customization in mind, with easily removable body panels and a modularity philosophy. This method is simple to modify and supports aftermarket support. But how much customisation can you have on the XSR300 remains to be seen. The scope of modifications can be limited due to factors like complexity of modern electronics, emissions regulations, safety standards and so on. Also, aftermarket parts for a new model are not necessarily available and cheap right away. Buyers are probably wondering how much they can make the XSR300 their own, and if Yamaha will have customization options available officially or work with aftermarket manufacturers.

I can only hope they make it easy to work on. I'll be happy if you give me a bike that I can wrench on myself. Modern bikes are too often tools that need computers and specialist tools to modify.

It's not super customizable out of the box, but the community will find a way. Modding bikes is where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Half the fun of owning a retro style bike is the amount of customization it allows for! The XSR300 will be designed accordingly and I’m sure that Yamaha knows this. I can't wait to see what people will do with it.

I'm betting it'll be a mix. Things like seats and handlebars and body panels are easy to swap out, but I’d imagine the core components will be locked down pretty tight because of regulations.

I’m sure knowing Yamaha, they’ll be releasing their own line of accessories for it. The real fun, however, will begin when aftermarket companies get their hands on it. After a year, there will be plenty.

Hopefully it's customizable, but I fear that rising electronics and emissions standards will restrict our ability to do so. It may actually be more cosmetics mods, than performance upgrades.

It should be super customizable if it follows the trend of other XSR models. One of the best things about the XSR line is that they’re blank canvases for builders and customizers.
